19.09.17: International Prize for Sustainable Architecture Fassa Bortolo – Honourable Mention

Award Ceremony – XII Edition

Wednesday 4th October 2017 – 16.00 h
Palazzo Tassoni Estense
University of Ferrara – Department of Architecture
Via della Ghiara, 36

We are very proud to be part of the award ceremony with a honourable mention for the Residential Care Home Erika Horn:

The Erika Horn nursing home is characterized by extremely careful design of the interior spaces at the same time that attention has been given to their relationship to their immediate surroundings. The result achieved manages to create an environment which in terms of quality, proportion and atmosphere is both very welcoming and homey, completely avoiding a sense of alienation that similar facilities tend to induce in their users. The high-energy performance of the structure and the contextual use of geothermal power plants, solar photo-voltaic systems and ecological materials, reveal the designer’s ability to marry functionality, efficiency and architectural quality.” (Jury Voice)

The Prize was conceived in 2003 in order to widely promote and publicize environmentally sustainable architectural projects designed for human needs and able to meet the needs of present and future generations by limiting pollution and the indiscriminate consumption of resources.
The Prize is therefore open to new works, redevelopments, existing building expansions, urban-scale interventions, landscape design and any other project that clearly expresses the ideals of sustainability.
